Bio Huma Netics Appoints New CFO

Bio Huma Netics, Inc. (BHN), President and CEO Lyndon Smith has announced the appointment of Scott Bostwick to the position of Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Bostwick replaces Mike Smith, who is retiring after almost 30 years with the company. BHN produces the Huma Gro®, Huma Gro® Turf, Probiotic Solutions®, and Mesa Verde Humates® product lines.

Mr. Bostwick, an Arizona State University graduate, completed his certified public accountant (CPA) exam in 2007 and, after working in various accounting and finance positions for government and private companies, joined BHN as Senior Director of Accounting in 2014.

Lyndon Smith said, “Mike Smith has been our strong right arm at BHN for nearly 30 years. He provided conservative steady financial guidance through a period of rapid company expansion. With Mike’s insights and contributions sales grew ten-fold, and he has built a solid financial structure that will ensure our success well into the future. This has been especially felt as we launch our new product line, Fertilgold® Organics, in the coming months. I will miss my daily interaction with Mike, but I’m also very confident that Scott has the financial leadership capabilities we need to continue BHN’s growth and success.”

Bostwick said, “Mike Smith has been a terrific mentor and friend to me over the past 4 years, and he has helped me to become well prepared to provide BHN’s financial guidance going forward. Mike has agreed to remain available to BHN on a consultant basis, and it is great to know that he is there for assistance should a need arise. BHN is a great company, and I am excited to be able to take the financial leadership role in continuing a legacy of success.”

Bio Huma Netics Achieves Responsible Ag Certification

Bio Huma Netics, Inc. (BHN), the maker of Huma Gro® and Fertilgold® Organics crop nutrition and protection products, has achieved Responsible Ag certification for its fertilizer manufacturing facilities.

Responsible Ag is the only program in the nation that provides a voluntary comprehensive assessment of a fertilizer manufacturer’s compliance with federal regulations. Certification requires that a facility meet stringent regulatory-based criteria, implement industry-leading safety and security measures, and demonstrate that facility safety is the company’s highest priority.

The Responsible Ag certifying organization was founded in 2014 to promote the public welfare by assisting agribusinesses to comply with federal environmental, health, safety, and security rules regarding the safe handling and storage of fertilizer products. Participation in the program assures community members, employees, and emergency responders that participating agribusinesses are acting responsibly.

BHN President and CEO Lyndon Smith said, “Achieving Responsible Ag certification demonstrates to our community and our customers that we are a very safe and responsible fertilizer manufacturer. We take great pride in our production processes, and we take every step available to demonstrate that our products are consistent, of high quality, and are safely and responsibly produced.” Frank Pidgeon, BHN Senior Director of EHSS/Quality Control, said, “The Responsible Ag audit was very thorough and was an excellent mechanism for ensuring that we were in full compliance with all federal fertilizer manufacturing safety and handling regulatory requirements. It’s great that we can offer this third-party certification to our employees and to our community as objective evidence that safety is BHN’s highest priority and that we put our safety commitment into daily action.”

More information about Responsible Ag and its certification process, including a list of agribusinesses that have been successfully certified, is available at www.responsibleag.org.

The AIARD is an association of professionals and practitioners whose mission is to improve the quality of life for all people by improving and developing global capacities to respond to new challenges and opportunities in helping to eliminate poverty, improve food security, and conserve and protect the environment in order to stimulate broad-based economic growth and sustainable development.

Dr. Abi-Ghanem—a Fulbright Scholar who earned her doctorate in Soil Science from Washington State University, her MSc degree in Plant Protection from the American University of Beirut, and her BSc in Agricultural Engineering from Lebanese University in Lebanon—states that she is deeply honored to have been elected to this position by her peers, and she looks forward to working with other scientists from around the world on important agricultural and rural development issues.

BHN CEO Lyndon Smith stated that Bio Huma Netics is very proud of Dr. Abi-Ghanem’s accomplishments and her election to the AIARD Board and that he appreciates having someone as distinguished as Dr. Abi-Ghanem leading BHN’s research & development initiatives.

In addition to serving on the AIARD Board, Dr. Abi-Ghanem is an adjunct faculty member of the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences at Washington State University (WSU) and serves as a member of the Humic Products Trade Association Science Committee; the Fluid Fertilizer Foundation Research and Education Committee; the Arizona Department of Agriculture Pesticide Advisory Committee; and is Chair of the Women-in-Science Committee of the American Society of Agronomy (ASA), Crop Science Society of America (CSSA), and Soil Science Society of America (SSSA). She is currently also serving a 2-year term as a member of the Agricultural Science Committee of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) Science Advisory Board (SAB).

Dr. Abi-Ghanem was further honored last year when she was presented with the AIARD 2016 Young Professional Award. That award cited Dr. Abi-Ghanem’s early work in assessing seed-borne diseases on wheat and barley landraces in a rural area that borders Syria and participation in the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Agricultural Research Connections 2013 Workshop in Kenya. Bio Huma Netics, Inc., and Mesa Verde Resources Form Strategic Alliance

Bio Huma Netics, Inc. (BHN)—an Arizona company that produces products under the Huma Gro®, Huma Gro® Turf, and Probiotic Solutions® brands—has recently formed an alliance with Reid Enterprises LLC, which does business as Mesa Verde Resources in New Mexico. Mesa Verde Resources is a humic substance mining company that produces, manufactures, and sells humic-acid and fulvic-acid products.

Other than access to a greater range of products, customers from the two companies should see no change in day-to-day operations. There will be no immediate change in personnel at either company, and the two companies will continue to operate separately under separate names for the immediate future.

This alliance is expected to facilitate a synergistic relationship between the BHN lines of agriculture, turf, and wastewater/soil remediation products and the Mesa Verde Resources line of humic and fulvic products for both domestic and international markets. While BHN has previously focused on a fraction of humic substances to extract the Micro Carbon Technology® used as a base for all its liquid products, the combined company will now offer its customers an even greater selection of dry and liquid products that includes MVR’s various formulations of humic and fulvic acids.

Bio Huma Netics has averaged over 20% growth per year over the last 10 years. With the Mesa Verde alliance, combined company sales are expected to increase by 30% in 2017.
